Free ‘LouGrass’ Sessions Showcase Bourbon City’s Bluegrass Ties

Tune in seasonally to catch live, weekly Bluegrass performances

Louisville, KY (April 1, 2025) – Just like Bourbon, Bluegrass music was born in Kentucky - deriving from the hills of Appalachia and raised on acoustic instruments and rich traditions. It’s a celebration of Kentucky roots music that blends bluegrass with Americana, blues, jazz, and more. Louisville has long been part of Bluegrass history, from hosting major festivals to serving as home to legendary musicians. Today’s Bluegrass sounds are as varied as they are authentic and Louisville’s take on the genre, coined LouGrass, carries Kentucky’s legacy forward with a new generation of artists keeping the tradition alive.

From April through October, the city is hosting a special series, the LouGrass Sessions, where you can hear the sounds of modern and traditional Bluegrass throughout the city, with free live performances every weekend. A myriad of Louisville’s venues, bars, hotels, restaurants and special events will host the weekly performances, giving guests an opportunity to sample a variety of the city’s hospitality settings.

Guests can visit lougrassmusic.com to find all the performances throughout the year including free and ticketed events.

“The return of LouGrass continues to add to Louisville’s authentic visitor experience, showcasing the evolution of Bluegrass while simultaneously supporting our vibrant hospitality community,” said Cleo Battle, Louisville Tourism President & CEO. “You can’t go wrong tapping your toes to authentic Bluegrass tunes with America’s only native spirit in your hand. LouGrass is the perfect way for guests to get to know Bourbon City’s personality.”
