University of Louisville volleyball fans set an NCAA championship record for attendance
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (December 21, 2024) – University of Louisville volleyball fans set an NCAA championship record for attendance on Sunday, bringing in another packed crowd of nearly 22,000 people at the KFC Yum! Center. The match aired nationally on ABC.
The NCAA Division I Volleyball semifinals also broke records as 21,726 fans watched the National Semifinal matches, also held in the KFC Yum! Center.
The tournament was one of the Top 20 events that were projected have the largest estimated economic impact (EEI) for the Louisville area this year, coming in at number 19 on the list.
“We know Louisville had great exposure in the national limelight throughout the tournament, elevating the city’s brand well past 2024,” said Cleo Battle, Louisville Tourism President and CEO. “With Travel + Leisure recently our city as one of the ’50 Best Places to Travel to in 2024,’ Louisville finished the year on a high note, not only hosting but playing in the record-breaking NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship.”
The KFC Yum! Center hosted several record crowds in 2024, including a historic milestone as the venue hosted the highest grossing US UFC Fight Night of all time on Saturday, June 8. Not only did the event mark a monumental achievement for UFC and the venue, but it also secured its position as the highest grossing single-day sporting event in KFC Yum! Center history.
