Louisville is packed with Holiday Fun ‘Yule’ Adore
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 11, 2019) – Several new holiday events have made a debut in Louisville this yuletide season.
From light shows and a laser dome to ice skating and igloos, the city, which has been named “One of the Best Winter Wonderlands in America” by LeafFilter Inc., has become an authentic destination for year-end fun.
Some of the festive new events that have debuted for holiday 2019 include:
Winter Woods Spectacular: From the producers of the popular Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular, this event is held in Louisville’s scenic Iroquois Park through Dec. 31. It features a half-mile drive of lighting and artistry exploring and celebrating the holiday season.
Fête de Noël: Paristown’s inaugural Fête de Noël is a six-week Winter Village featuring Louisville’s only authentic outdoor ice-skating rink. Guests are invited to skate, shop, eat and drink in the heart of Paristown, and experience the return of Louisville’s award-winning Holiday Laser Dome, Stoneware & Co. ornament decorating, holiday family movies and more. It runs through Jan. 5, 2020.
Igloos at 8UP Elevated Drinkery & Kitchen: Cozy up and get toasty in a heated igloo at 8UP Elevated Drinkery & Kitchen. The downtown rooftop bar, located at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown, has created a winter wonderland featuring six themed, all-weather igloos. Sip champagne in the elegant Diamonds & Fur igloo or get comfy in the flannel bedecked Winter Lodge.

Lights Under Louisville: At this holiday favorite, Louisville Mega Cavern is transformed into a festive underground light spectacular through Jan. 4. Enjoy a 30-minute ride through part of 17 miles of underground passageways. Featuring more than 850 lit characters with three million points of light.
Catch one of the many holiday performances under way, including “A Christmas Carol” and “The Santaland Diaries” at Actors Theatre of Louisville; “Elf The Musical” and “Christmas in Candyland” at Derby Dinner Playhouse; and “Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas Live on Stage,” and “The Brown-Forman Nutcracker” at the Kentucky Center for Performing Arts.
“65 Years of White Christmas” exhibit at the Frazier History Museum: In a partnership with the Rosemary Clooney House in Augusta, Ky., the Frazier is celebrating the beloved 1954 holiday musical starring Clooney. Guests will see the iconic sleigh, multiple costumes, promotional posters, personal memorabilia from Bing Crosby and Clooney and more. On exhibit through Jan. 26, 2020.
Cakes with Kris Kringle at the Kentucky Derby Museum: Breakfast and photos with Santa, unlimited pancakes, a hot chocolate bar, a story time with Mrs. Claus and a holiday craft activity will be under way Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Holidays at the Big Bat at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory: Among the festive highlights at this new event is the Grand Slam Wonderland, featuring décor, special programming, and children can test their indoor snowball-throwing skills. Runs through Jan. 5, 2020.
Mary M. Miller Riverboat: Enjoy a brunch cruise along the Ohio River with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Dec. 14.
Santa’s Safari at the Louisville Zoo: This family-friendly event features Santa’s workshop, holiday crafts, snacks, refreshments, holiday sing-alongs, photos with Santa and more merriment on Dec. 14 and 15.
