Louisville Scores Prestigious NWSL Championship
Game to be played at Lynn Family Stadium, televised nationally
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (November 10, 2021) – Louisville’s Lynn Family Stadium has hit the trifecta of high-profile soccer games including August’s four team match-up in The Women’s Cup, the November USL Men's Eastern Conference Quarter and Semifinals Men’s playoff games and the highly anticipated upcoming National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Championship game.
The NWSL Championship game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. ET kick off on November 20 at Lynn Family Stadium, with the newly expanded playoffs featuring the top six teams at the end of the regular season, with the top two seeds earning a first-round bye to the semifinals.
“We are thrilled to be hosting the 2021 NWSL Championship game at Lynn Family Stadium,” said Brad Estes, president of Racing Louisville FC. “Racing Louisville FC joined the league earlier this year and already we’ve felt the immense love and support from our incredible fans and community. Louisville is an outstanding market for women’s soccer, and we look forward to showcasing our beautiful stadium and city through this event.”
Serving as the host site, Lynn Family Stadium is the largest soccer-specific stadium in the region with seating locations for 11,600 fans and a capacity of more than 15,000. Home to Louisville City FC of the USL Championship and Louisville’s NWSL team, Racing Louisville, it opened in 2020 in Louisville’s lively Butchertown neighborhood just adjacent to downtown.
Butchertown, which was Louisville's original meatpacking district with butcher shops dominating the area in the 1800's, now offers chic boutiques, the city’s first brandy distillery and several options for shopping and dining. The Greek Revival and shot-gun homes on Washington Street and others put the neighborhood on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood features Butchertown Market, a popular shopping draw which serves as a one-stop-shop for retail therapy with various retailers all housed under one roof.
Tickets are available online with the game also airing live on CBS and streaming via Paramount+. It also will stream internationally outside the U.S. on the NWSL’s Twitch channel.
