New Flights Take Off at Louisville’s Muhammad Ali International Airport
A flurry of new flight opportunities are launching to welcome additional travelers to Bourbon Country
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (February 24, 2023) – After closing out the third busiest year at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) in 2022 with more than 3.88 million total passengers and a record number of nonstop destinations, a flurry of new flight opportunities are launching to welcome additional travelers to Bourbon Country just ahead of the busy summer travel season.
American Airlines continued its expansion at SDF with a second daily flight to Boston and larger, mainline jets on multiple routes. Beginning on April 5, American will offer a second daily flight between SDF and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). American also introduced larger aircraft to multiple flights between Louisville and their hubs in Dallas (DFW), Charlotte (CLT) and Miami (MIA).
Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines is also adding new, nonstop service to BOS with a new daily flight launching on Monday, May 8.
Spirit Airlines will resume nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) from SDF beginning on Wednesday, April 5, while Breeze Airways, the newest, nicest low-fare airline, is introducing two summer seasonal routes from Louisville, starting in May through September 5, with nonstop flights to Raleigh-Durham, NC (RDU) and one-stop/no plane change BreezeThru service to Jacksonville, FL (JAX).
Sun Country Airlines selected Louisville one of the airline’s newest destinations. Sun Country will offer nonstop service to Minneapolis (MSP) from SDF beginning on May 4, just in time for the Kentucky Derby. The new service will open more low-fare connections via the airline’s extensive network throughout the US, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and Canada – giving travelers even more ways to reach their favorite vacation destination.
Additionally, SDF will host a Global Entry enrollment event on Monday, March 13 through Friday, March 17. Appointments with U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials for applicants will be available daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during this timeframe. Global Entry is offered through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Trusted Traveler Programs. The temporary Global Entry Enrollment Center will be located on the ticketing level, immediately behind the Spirit Airlines ticket counter in the terminal. Applications for Global Entry must first be completed online through the Trusted Traveler Programs portal at https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov.
