Yew Dell Botanical Gardens Begins Construction On $5 Million Castle Gardens Project
The transformative project will make the gardens more accessible than ever.
CRESTWOOD, KY – Yew Dell Botanical Gardens announces the start of construction on the Castle Gardens, a project that will transform the landscape and increase accessibility to a local landmark.
Yew Dell is a center of gardening, plants, and education, all offered at a site of significant historical importance. Yew Dell offers exceptional display gardens, educational programs and community events, ongoing plant research, and hiking trails. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Preservation Partner Project of the Garden Conservancy.
During a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, the nonprofit announced the start of construction for its Castle Gardens Project. This $5 million project will transform the area surrounding the iconic Yew Dell castle into a stunning collection of new gardens, water features, and educational opportunities- all fully accessible to all visitors.
Yew Dell has been working with Land Morphology (Seattle, WA) to develop the project’s design and recently selected E-Z Construction (Louisville, KY) as the project’s general contractor. “This will be a truly transformative project in the growth and development of Yew Dell Botanical Gardens,” says Executive Director Dr. Paul Cappiello.
With work underway, organizers plan for construction and plantings to be completed by 2025.
